Weird War Two is an intriguing collection of all the weird stuff your teachers probably never taught you about World War Two. From pink Spitfires to paratrooper dogs, Weird War Two has something for everyone. The book covers not only the military aspects, but also the civilian life during war. Some of the very strange propaganda campaigns, as well as the wild war bonds advertising schemes. After all, what's a World War Two history book without talk of war bonds?
Weird War Two takes a refreshing approach to history. Instead of the rather boring, stiff way many history books are written, this book takes a lighthearted approach to the subject. The captions often make clever quips and pop culture references that are sure to keep the reader engaged all the way through. These captions and paragraphs offer the reader interesting facts and descriptions of these WWII oddities, while also still remaining quite fun to read.
All in all, Weird War Two is a wonderful read. It's perfect for anyone with a basic interest in WWII, who doesn't want to be bogged down in lengthy multi-paragraph essays on historical subjects the reader may or may not be interested in. This book would be the ideal gift for a young person trying to learn more about the Second World War, as it's lighthearted approach will make any reader smile and want to know more.
